Adobo Recipe - Yummy!

Remember the last post, about cleaning your iron? Yeahhhh, this is what you can use the leftover vinegar for. Heheheh kidding. PLEASE DON'T DO THAT. EW. GROSS.

And, nope. No pics. But let me tell you. I've been cooking forever (I'm 32. Or 34. Crap. I lie about it so much, I actually have to do the math. I was born in 1979. There.), and no matter what I do, I can never get it right. Hmmm, I wonder if it's because I don't measure. I hate measuring. And anything requiring more than 5 ingredients. And kneading dough. I hate kneading dough. Anyway, my sister-in-law shared the best best best recipe for adobo that I've ever tried. She actually calls it yummy adobo. So I hope you don't mess this up.

Ingredients:
- Chicken or pork (For chicken, I use bone-in thighs or legs, and shred all the chicken off for the spoiled people in my family) (For pork, I use the country-style or whatever you like. Doesn't matter)

- 1 head of garlic (Not 1 clove, 1 entire head of garlic)

- 1 ladle kikkoman soy sauce (slightly less if you're using the asian kind)

- 1 ladle vinegar (I use datu puti. I wouldn't recommend distilled vinegar)

- 1 ladle water

- Sugar, to taste (I use white, but brown is ok, too)

- Bay leaves (optional)

- Ground black pepper (Unless you like watching your kids and husband cringe after biting into the peppercorn kind. Then they spend the rest of the meal hunting through the meat and rice for those dreaded little balls. I use peppercorns if my kids and husband pissed me off that day. It's fun)

This list of ingredients passes my 5 ingredient limit, but that's ok, because I always have vinegar and soy sauce on hand.

Note: Sometimes I double the soy sauce, vinegar, water, sugar because I use lots of meat. I guess it depends on how saucy you like your food. I like my food to drown.

Step 1: Sautee garlic in oil.

Step 2: Add meat and brown.

Step 3: Turn on the fan, and hate yourself for showering before cooking, because you now smell like oil and meat and garlic.

Step 4: Add vinegar, soy sauce, water, and sugar. Oh, if you wanted bay leaves, add it now, too.

Step 5: Simmer til meat is tender.

Step 6: Stir it up and taste the sauce. Add more sugar, if it's too sour for you.

Step 7: Serve over white rice.

Step 8: Take a picture for instagram.

There. That's the recipe. Enjoy!
